The Intimate Living

EHI The Intimate Living ED 2880x708

A journey between Africa and East

The strength of ETRO Home Interiors is to renew itself every season without ever betraying itself. In fashion as well as in interiors, the Maison expands the boundaries of its iconographic archive as done by the ancient emperors: each achievement is an enrichment to be preserved and integrated into its own stylistic codes. Thus language becomes semiotic. The pieces that are added are connected to the previous ones and have the root from which future ones will arise. The Intimate Living, absolute preview of the collection that will be presented at the 2021 Salone del Mobile in Milan, is the perfect synthesis of that ideal journey between the fascinations of an East wrapped in the golden light of the cities of gods and the ethnic vibrations of Africa dense of dancing vitality.

Colors become delicate, fading into one another among the neutral shades of beige and champagne, ivory white and dove grey, creating an elegant atmosphere, enlivened by the textiles that elaborate the classic weaves of paisley: among a selection of different weights, exotic animals peep out and showers of damask flowers. The protagonist of the scene is the Madras sofa. The soft lines that characterize it are accentuated by the cream tone of the velvet upholstery on which the brand’s dévoré monogram runs, creating a geometric pattern; its profile is enhanced by a high belt in dark brown leather, embellished laterally by the ETRO logo in light brass.

A detail it shares with a twin armchair, a single-seater variant of Madras, perfect to be its partner in a large space, as well as a main seat in a more contained environment: the Leroy fabric, that this year meets the grey scale with the typical cashmere design, infuses it with a sophisticated and welcoming soul. Thin and strong, they are supported by a polished brass structure entrusted with the task of acting as a common thread to the whole.

In fact, we find it in the Ambar set of circular tables, a name that, combined with the intensity of the precious carbalho wood chosen for the top, pushes the imagination to the esoteric places of the African continent. A reference to the percussion instruments of the ancient tribal populations filtered by the construction technique and the composure of Western design; the elegant silhouette of these two accessories recomposes the complex succession of decorative motifs that surround them in a balanced harmony. Similar to a cool spring of crystalline water, a mirror emerges on the top of the largest of the Ambar. Its reflection can be a refuge for the gaze and an ironic game during a conversation.

The Shah armchair completes The Intimate Living. The ethnic-inspired name refers to the kings of Persian tradition, of whom it expresses the facets to the maximum degree: it has a strong and light line, reaching upwards but firmly on the ground and a backrest that allows you to rest firmly. For the small armchair, ETRO Home Interiors has designed a cushion that recalls the vaporous seats of Ottoman poufs, in the more elaborate Bukhara fabric, where a stylized embroidered flower is repeated between the scrolls. More abundant than the surface it covers, it is adorned with two silk tassels, that underline its eclectic personality. The Pegasus detail is back on the back.

With this collection, ETRO Home Interiors continues to evolve and transform, while remaining faithful to its heritage and DNA. Transporting us into a new dimension where we have to find our own center, it represents an invitation to rethink everyday life, to live it more fully, without losing the desire to discover new unexplored destinations.
